At the Liberty County Board of Education meeting held on February 12, 2011, Lawrence Murray, a junior at Bradwell Institute, was recognized for his design that was adopted as the official logo of Liberty College & Career Academy. Lawrence' design was selected as part of a contest sponsored at both Liberty County high schools to produce a logo for the new academy.

Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle and other government and business representatives attended the formal groundbreaking for Liberty College & Career Academy on Friday, February 25, 2011. Following discussions with county leaders, the site was finally chosen for construction of the $8 M facility on the former Liberty County Airport site on Airport Road in Walthourville. Actual construction is expected to begin in early summer 2011.


Some of the dignitaries present at the February event shown breaking ground for the new LCCA facility are Dr. Judy Scherer, Liberty County School System Superintendent, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, Dr. Kathy Love, Savannah Technical College President, Verdell Jones, Liberty County Board of Education Member, State Senator Tommy Williams and Winifred Dukes of Dukes, Edwards & Dukes Construction.

On Thursday, May 12, 2010, the Walthourville Mayor and City Council were briefed on the program and construction details for Liberty College and Career Academy. The facility will be located on Airport Road in Walthourville. At the briefing, Mayor Daisy Pray was presented with a framed rendering of the proposed facility by Parrish Construction representative Charlie Griffis.
